He most recently served as the Chief Business Officer of the most profitable brand of a post-production company. Robert has worked in markets that span energy, infrastructure, hospitality, consumer goods, and technology. In addition to having a strong and proven operating background, he has significant finance experience in M&A, private equity, and credit markets, including in the high yield energy and power space as a member of Wells Fargo’s Principal Investing.
Joe Hunter

Joe has four decades of experience in government, public policy, and government relations. As a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Interior in the administration of President George H.W. Bush, he oversaw Federal agencies with combined budgets of almost $2 billion, including the U.S. Geological Survey, the Bureau of Reclamation and the Bureau of Mines. Joe’s corporate and not-for-profit experience spans the globe, from public utilities to energy producers to economic development agencies. In the political arena, Joe has served as a senior advisor, strategist and manager for presidential campaigns, congressional races, and statewide initiatives across the country.
Evan Kipnis, PHD

Evan is an earth scientist experienced with technology development and science application. He specializes in leading teams that build geospatial and data tools to address solutions to critical challenges in resource development. For more than 5 years, Evan has worked as a scientist in the forensic, mining, and materials industries. Evan served in leadership with the American Geophysical Union and remains connected to an international community of scientists researching modern climate and resource challenges. He holds a doctorate in geology and a graduate certificate in sustainability from the University of Utah and a bachelors in natural resources from the University of Arizona.

Weld, former head of the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice, popular two-term Governor of Massachusetts, and national political candidate, has distinguished himself in the realms of politics and business. With a keen understanding of political landscapes, global markets, and governmental structure, Governor Weld’s expertise, strategic insights, and leadership have played a pivotal role in advancing numerous national and global companies. Governor Weld brings deep experience and knowledge about energy and the regulatory environment to Methane Signals. Governor Weld graduated first in his class at Harvard College, with honors from Harvard Law School, and with Distinction from Oxford University (England).
Dmitry Kaplan

Dmitry Kaplan is a data scientist who earned his PhD in Electronics/Artificial Intelligence at the University of Washington in 1988. Since then, he has managed his company -- Kaplan Design, LLC - specializing in high-relevancy data discovery and visualization, development of medical diagnostic instrumentation, signal processing, machine learning, and management of engineering projects. Since 2019 he has worked as a co-founder and a chief scientist at Signal4D – a company specializing in geospatial analytics and telemetry, building models of how weather affects our lives, including fire and landslide risk, vehicular slowdown forecasts, electric vehicle range predictions and many others.
Logan Mitchell, PHD

Logan is an atmospheric scientist and energy analyst who brings an understanding of methane across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. For his PhD he studied methane in Antarctic and Greenland ice cores leading to fundamental insights about how human activities affected the pre-industrial global methane budget. He then completed a Postdoc and became a professor at the University of Utah studying urban greenhouse gas emissions, atmospheric chemistry and air quality using mobile platforms. He now focuses on state and national energy policy at a non-profit in Utah, with an emphasis on economic solutions to energy and environmental challenges.
Anthony Chavez

Anthony Chavez is the Director of Renewable Energy for Weyerhaeuser, where he leads a team that works to site renewable energy projects on its land holdings throughout the US. Previously, Anthony was the Government Relations Manager covering legislative issues in Washington State, which included working on renewable energy and climate change policy. Prior to joining Weyerhaeuser in 2005, Anthony served 5 years in the United States Navy as Judge Advocate General. Anthony holds a law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and a bachelors degree in Finance from Santa Clara University.
